The requirements to become a NWCOA CWCP® cover five areas:
Certification constitutes recognition by NWCOA that, to its best knowledge, an applicant meets a superior level of educational, experience, and ethical standards adopted by this Association and the applicant has demonstrated competency though formal testing.

The five areas are evaluated as follows:

1. Applicant must have 5 years of WCO experience with a total of 10,000 hours over that time period, or part-time experience with a total of 10,000 hours over an 8-year period.

2. Applicant must hold 2 NWCOA certifications, or 1 NWCOA certification and 2 NWCOA Wildlife EXPOs or approved regional training events; or hold a College degree in a related field.

3. Applicant must successfully pass the CWCP exam with an 85%. Test is available online or in-person.

4. Applicant must to uphold and conduct their activities in accordance with the Code of Ethics as prescribed by NWCOA. See Code of Ethics at NWCOA.com

5. Applicant must complete an application and pay the appropriate application fee - $100 for NWCOA members and $200 for non-members.
